Understand The Assurances Of Salvation
Sooner or later you will have doubts about your salvation. This is natural. But remember that you are Jesus' child - you cannot be cast away. Your salvation is not based upon your feelings - you may have experienced wonderful feelings of joy or happiness when you first believed, but now with all the trials of life coming down about you these feelings may disappear. It can be hard to feel the 'joy' when you have to take care of the sick kids, lose a job, or just feel generally depressed. But BE ASSURED, your salvation is NOT dependent upon your feelings - it is based upon the WORK of JESUS! "And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life." 1 John 5:11-13 Don't worry that you may not have said the words just right, or maybe didn't really mean them, or maybe don't believe anymore. Assure yourself that you believe in Jesus, just like you did when you were converted, and He will protect you. This is one of the purposes of the New Believer's "Road To Maturity" Guideline, it will remind you of the date that you committed yourself to Jesus, and this will assist in alleviating any of those lingering doubts. This inevitable issue in your life is another reason to be immersed within the protective waters of a healthy church. One of the Church's missions is to minister to the believers, to keep them accountable and spiritually well-balanced. We cannot go down this road alone! This is why the believers band together - to enable a healthy community of believers and to bring the Kingdom of God to earth by displaying our love and compassion to the world!
